Kanohi ki te Kanohi, Face to Face 1998
is a film programme drawn from themes
explored in the ‘Facing it, Art Now Looks Back’
exhibition at Te Papa Tongarewa.
The programme is made up of music videos, documentary-style and experimental video an film. Moving image from New Zealand is mixed with material from Vietnam, Canada, Australia, USA and Britain to create four thematic based programmes.
Kanohi ki te Kanohi/Face to Face investigates the retelling and reframing of history, and tourism and the experiences of indigenous and immigrant cultures.
Kanohi ki te Kanohi/Face to Face was put together by The Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, The Moving Image Centre, Auckland and Nga Kaitiaki O Nga Taonga Whitiahua The New Zealand Film Archive.
And will screen in Wellington at the Rialto, Cinema 3 over Queens birthday weekend and in Auckland at the Kodak Theatre June 15,16, 18,19.
